Bear Blog is back ! And we are better than ever now that we have the pleasure of introducing you guys to our first guest writer—Shayla.
We’ll get acquainted with Shayla a bit later down the line as she’ll be here for a bit, but I would love to point out we come from the same state❤
Bearshop (and Bearblog by extension) aim to be a place where humans can find common threads; core values we all can get behind. And here we get to experience a perfect example of the universe working her magic, bringing Shayla to us to feature our first artist for BEARSTAN who is ALSO FROM NM!! We will be teaming up w this month’s featured artist, Mathew, to do a special sticker give away in December, so stay tuned!!

25 year old, New Mexico State grad, Matthew Garza (@matthewbgarza) is bringing his vivid fantasies to life through printmaking. His style reflects his interest in American traditional tattoo with each line he marks, bringing new soul to the timeworn style. Mathew’s technique also has a traditional flare to it; each illustration is composed by hand before being transformed to screening tones in prep for the actual printing process—one that Garza has been honing in on for the last five years. His signature look is reminiscent of a comic book-esque style, achieving through a the four color printing process. The playful illustrations touch on every color one could think of. Garza and his friends are currently getting ready to nest into a commercial space in Las Cruces, where they plan to build a home for a print shop and art gallery. Garza said his motivation is to make each drawing and shirt design better than the last, a catalyst for creating that all of us here @ BEARSTAN can get behind.
